Q: HOW DO I CHOOSE A MEDIUM FOR MY CUSTOM PORTRAIT?
Following is some information which may help you decide which medium will work best for you:
PASTEL
A Pastel Portrait on colored Canson Paper must be matted and framed under glass. With the proper care, a pastel painting will last a very long time. The use of frosted glass prevents bothersome reflection. Include the price of custom framing in your portrait budget. You can learn more about Pastel HERE.
ACRYLIC
An Acrylic Portrait is painted on a stretched canvas. The paint is water soluble, dries almost instantly and is very durable. A wrap-around canvas is an option for a frameless picture. Otherwise, a custom or ready-made frame will protect the edges of the canvas. Learn more about Acrylics HERE.
WATERCOLOR
A Watercolor Portrait on Arches Paper must be matted and framed under glass. It is a transparent medium which gets its luminosity from the underlying paper. Learn more about watercolor HERE.
OILS
An Oil Portrait on stretched canvas is an heirloom to be treasured for generations. Because of it's long drying time, you must allow 2 weeks after completion before it is safe to handle.
